Nowhere Man: Finally

I have an extensive DVD/Blu-ray library, (I have no cable or streaming services, which is great… no commercials!) but one of the missing gems that was too expensive to buy, was the 1995 UPN Network series “Nowhere Man”. I’ve kept an eye out for this at used and thrift stores for years, and today, I actually found it, for eighty dollars less than it would have been to get it off of eBay or Amazon. They only made the dvd set in 2005, and not that many so it is quite a find. I got it for $6, and online the cheapest one I can find is $89!

So, I’m watching the first episode for the first time in what, thirty years, and I notice the main character and his hostage getting into… a Thunderbird! Cool!

But not long afterward, that Thunderbird gets blown up. Now, I’m not so glad I saw a Thunderbird in this series. And they blew it up REAL good. No salvaging parts off of this one.

Makes me wonder; they were actually driving this car earlier, so was the one they blew up a different Thunderbird, but same year, same color, but maybe procured from a junkyard or something? This show didn’t exactly have a big budget, but then again what do I know about television series production.

Also: The people who created this show also did the original “La Femme Nikita” on the USA channel, and “24” with Kiefer Sutherland. These were all great shows.

Ten Years Flies By

I’ve posted this photo before, but I just touched it up in Photoshop a bit more and felt like sharing it as the Lincoln is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. (As Ferris Bueller would say).

It is a great example of how fast time flies as this photo is ten years old already. This was taken outside the Ralston Road Cafe, which a few years later became one of those classic instances where a business one takes for granted just disappears out of nowhere without warning. Currently, new townhomes fill the space it once occupied.

The parking lot has significance to me as it is where I worked for seven years pushing carts at Safeway, my first job during and after high school. Pushed a lot of carts here. Chased a lot of shoplifters. This lot is now a bunch of townhomes, and there is still building going on in this immediate area, which was admittedly getting a big run-down. I’m not even sure Walmart across the street was open when this photo was taken.

100,000 Miles!

My 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII just rolled over to 100,000 last night, but I couldn’t get a picture of it as I was on the turn from C-470 onto I-70 at the time. Not going to get into a crash for that! I feel like a party is in order for something like this? These are basically upgraded, luxury Thunderbird/Cougars from the 1990s, and this one still runs like a champ.
